Minisforum UM780L Slim Brings Ryzen 7 Power to a Tiny Mini PC

Introduce UM780L Slim

Minisforum has officially introduced the UM780L Slim, a compact desktop designed to deliver strong performance without taking up much space. The new mini PC combines AMD’s Zen 4-based Ryzen 7 7840HS processor with fast LPDDR5X memory, PCIe Gen4 storage support and USB4 connectivity.

Despite its small 0.77-litre chassis, the UM780L Slim offers a surprisingly capable hardware package, making it suitable for productivity, creative workloads, multitasking and everyday computing.

AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS Powers the UM780L Slim

At the center of the Minisforum UM780L Slim is AMD’s Ryzen 7 7840HS, a Zen 4 mobile processor featuring integrated Radeon 780M graphics.

The processor can run with considerably higher power limits than it typically receives in a laptop. In Performance mode, Minisforum says the CPU can reach up to 70W initially and maintain 65W.

Users can also choose lower-power profiles. Balanced mode brings sustained power down to 54W, while Silent mode targets 45W for quieter and more efficient operation.

Cooling is handled by a blower-style fan combined with phase-change thermal material.

Fast LPDDR5X-7500 Memory

The mini PC comes with either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM.

Because the memory is soldered to the motherboard, users cannot replace or upgrade the RAM themselves later. However, Minisforum points to the high memory bandwidth as an advantage.

The company claims LPDDR5X-7500 offers around 34% higher rated bandwidth than DDR5-5600, which can benefit workloads that depend heavily on memory performance.

Dual PCIe Gen4 SSD Slots

While the RAM is fixed, storage is much more flexible.

The UM780L Slim includes two M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 SSD slots, allowing users to install multiple drives. Minisforum officially lists support for up to 8TB of total storage.

This makes the system more convenient for users who need additional space for applications, large files, media projects or games.

Radeon 780M Integrated Graphics

The Ryzen 7 7840HS includes AMD’s Radeon 780M integrated GPU, giving the mini PC graphics capabilities without requiring a dedicated graphics card.

For a system this compact, integrated Radeon graphics can handle everyday graphical workloads and a range of lighter gaming and creative tasks.

Minisforum also advertises up to 10 TOPS of AI performance, although the company’s detailed specifications reportedly list the NPU as “N/A.”

USB4 and Multi-Display Support

Connectivity is another major feature of the UM780L Slim.

The mini PC includes USB4, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4, allowing it to connect to multiple displays. Minisforum says the system can run up to three displays simultaneously.

DisplayPort and USB4 can support resolutions up to 4K at 120Hz, while the USB4 connection can also output up to 8K at 60Hz.

The USB4 port additionally supports 65W to 100W USB Power Delivery input, adding more flexibility to the compact system.

Other Connectivity Options

The UM780L Slim comes with a broad selection of ports and wireless connectivity options.

Its networking features include:

  • Wi-Fi 6E
  • Bluetooth 5.2
  • 2.5Gbps Ethernet

For wired accessories, there are two front-facing 10Gbps USB Type-A ports, along with two rear USB 2.0 Type-A ports.

A 3.5mm combination audio jack is also included.

Tiny 0.77-Litre Design

The biggest attraction of the Minisforum UM780L Slim is its compact form factor.

The machine measures approximately 130 × 126 × 47.2mm and weighs around 600 grams. Its chassis occupies only about 0.77 litres, making it easy to place on a small desk or workstation.

Minisforum also provides a wall-mounting option, allowing users to keep the mini PC out of sight when desk space is limited.

Minisforum UM780L Slim Price and Availability

The Minisforum UM780L Slim is already available to order through the company’s US store.

The 16GB RAM + 500GB SSD configuration is listed at $535, while the 1TB SSD version costs $599.

According to the company, both configurations are scheduled to begin shipping in late October.

Is the Minisforum UM780L Slim a Powerful Mini PC?

The UM780L Slim combines a capable Zen 4 processor, fast LPDDR5X memory, upgradeable PCIe Gen4 storage and modern display connectivity in an exceptionally small chassis.

The soldered RAM means buyers need to choose between 16GB and 32GB carefully, but the two SSD slots provide useful storage flexibility.

With its Ryzen 7 7840HS processor, Radeon 780M graphics, USB4 connectivity and compact design, the Minisforum UM780L Slim represents the growing trend toward smaller PCs that can still deliver desktop-class features.
